Bad Debt Buyers

This is a booming business across the nation. What is a Bad Debt Buyer? They are debt collectors that purchase old (and mostly outdated debts) accounts such as past due telephone accounts, cell phone accounts, credit card accounts and other unsecured and some secured debts. Many people have been sued by bad debt buyers and have suffered serious impairment to their credit rating. During a recent Illinois Appellate Court Decision, a defendant (party to a lawsuit) succesfully appealed a civil judgment that was rendered against him by a Bad Debt Buyer. Apparently, the bad debt buyer could not produce evidence by way of a signed credit application, and the appellate court reversed and remanded the lower (State) court decision and threw out the judgment.
